DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team dropped two games to the host Embry-Riddle Eagles on Saturday, ultimately costing them the series, 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 1ST: With the bases loaded and two outs on the board, Sprengers sent a two-RBI single to left field to put the Sharks on the board 2-0.
Daniela Bautista drew a walk to load the bases once more, and two hit batters and another walk scored three more for a 5-0 Sharks advantage.
BOTTOM 1ST: The Eagles took advantage of a wild pitch to make it on the scoreboard, with the Sharks still leading 5-1.
TOP 2ND: An RBI-double by Sprengers to score Storrer, pushing NSU ahead 6-1.
BOTTOM 2ND: An RBI double by ERAU's Scott scored two for the home team, cutting the deficit to three runs, 6-3.
BOTTOM 3RD: Embry-Riddle exploded for five runs in the bottom of the third, capitalizing on back-to-back RBI-doubles and two RBI-singles to take the lead, 8-6.
BOTTOM 4TH: The Eagles pushed their lead to 10-6 an inning later, tallying runs on an RBI-single by Carroll and on a stolen base play.
TOP 5TH: The Sharks answered with four runs of their own, knotting the game 10-10. A solo homer by
Daniela Bautista moved the score to 10-7 in ERAU's favor, before a two-RBI triple by Blackwood cut the deficit to one run, 10-9. An RBI-single by Mayers to left scored Blackwood, tying the game, 10-10.
BOTTOM 7TH: A sacrifice fly by ERAU's Rain secured the walk-off win for the Eagles, 11-10.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- The Sharks tallied eight hits in the first game, as Sprengers went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored.
- Blackwood went 1-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored and Bautista was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
- Edmundson, Mayers, Maloney and Lageyre all had one RBI apiece.
- Lexie Storrer took the loss, picthing the last 4.1 innings and allowing four runs on eight hits. Sprengers started the first 2.1 innings in the circle and allowed seven runs on eight hits.
- The Eagles tallied 16 hits throughout the game.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Bautista's homerun was her first of the season.
- ERAU's 16 hits were the most allowed so far this season.

BOTTOM 4TH: After three scoreless innings, the Eagles took a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly by Drayton.
TOP 5TH: After Edmundson led off with a single to second, a fielding error commited by the Eagles allowed Edmundson to make it all the way home to knot the game, 1-1.
BOTTOM 6TH: In the bottom of the sixth, ERAU scored on a fielder's choice, taking the lead 2-1, and eventually the victory an inning later.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Edmundson was 2-for-4 with a run scored, as the Sharks were held to five total hits over the game.
- Both Storrer and Kayla Kight hit doubles.
- Storrer took the loss, tossing all 6.0 innings with two runs allowed on seven hits.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Eagles took the series, 2-1, over the Sharks with the Saturday split.

The Sharks will continue on the road and travel to Clermont, Fla. to compete in THE Spring Games this upcoming weekend. The first game will be against Cedarville on Friday, Mar. 2 at 2:00 p.m.
