FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After helping both of their respective teams to their second-consecutive Sunshine State Conference Championship titles, Courtney DeVeny and Franco Lupoli have earned the title of CollegeSwimming Div. II National Swimmers of the Week.
 
With 80 total points and two conference records, Courtney DeVeny grabbed her second Female Swimmer of the Meet award as many years. The senior brought home seven gold medals, broke six SSC Championship meet records and six NSU records. In addition to her medals, she also tallied six provisional times and one automatic qualifier in the 400 IM.
 
"Courtney led the charge with outstanding performances not only in her individual events, but in three championship relays as well," explained head coach Ben Hewitt. "Her efforts over the four days set the tone for the rest of our team and we believe that will carry over well into NCAA's."
 
In the SSC championship meet, Lupoli took third place overall, tallying 62 points and earning two gold medals. His winning time of 9:02.20 in the 1,000 freestyle automatically qualifies him for nationals while his B-Cut time of 15:23.94 in the 1,650 freestyle was a meet-record time. He also posted a 4:26.03 from the B final of the 500 freestyle, which would have placed second.
 
"Franco put together two Championship performances and we are grateful for his leadership and efforts," said Hewitt. "Their best swimming is still to come we feel and they'll utilize these next few weeks to their advantage to hone in and fine tune for the biggest stage."
