HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a shaky defensive start allowed Southern New Hampshire to climb in front 2-1 in the top of the second, Nova Southeastern rattled off three runs in the home half as part of an eventual nine unanswered over the final eight innings on the night.
In his first career start for the Sharks,
Gabriel Rodriguez struck out four in two innings of work. He was relieved by Krzyzanowski in the third, who looked anything but a freshman in his first significant outing of the year. The native of Cedar Park, Texas surrendered just two hits over five innings, setting down 10 straight batters at one point.
Already in front 4-2 in the bottom of the third, Acevedo extended the lead after belting a solo shot to deep center field. The 5-2 edge remained until the sixth when Nova Southeastern tacked on another run on a
Dylan Harris RBI-single up the middle.
Christian Demby later ignited a three-run seventh with a run-scoring single in his first start in exactly a month before sacrifice flies by
Nathan Chevalier, Harris and
Samuel Duran polished off the Penmen.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- Krzyzanowski needed just three pitches to complete the top of the fourth.
- Three NSU players finished the night with at least three hits (Acevedo, Demby and Harris).
- Six different players swiped at least one base in the victory, including a team-high two by Demby.
- The NSU bullpen allowed only three hits in seven innings.
