FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After postponing Tuesday's series opener, the Nova Southeastern softball team and the Barry Buccaneers split a doubleheader on Wednesday night at the AD Griffin Sports Complex. The Sharks took game one, 3-0, before falling in extra innings, 2-1, in the nightcap.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP (GAME ONE):
FINAL SCORE: Nova Southeastern Sharks 3 (W: L. Storrer, 10-16); Barry University Buccaneers 0 (L: G. Santos, 6-14)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOTTOM 1ST: With two outs on the board,
Dana Edmundson and
Dominique Sprengers each drew walks to put the Sharks in scoring position. The next batter,
Alex Suzuki crushed a double into left center to score both baserunners for a 2-0 NSU advantage.
BOTTOM 5TH: After leading off the inning with a single through the right side,
Kayla Kight was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Kailynn Blackwood and a groundout by
Lexie Storrer pushed her to third. During the next at bat, Kight was brought home thanks to a wild pitch by Barry's starting pitcher Geneva Santos.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Kight finished 2-for-2 with one run scored while Suzuki was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
- Blackwood, Edmundson and Bautista accounted for the remaining three hits for the Sharks.
- Storrer moved to 10-16 on the season with the shutout, allowing only five hits with seven strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Storrer's seven strikeouts were a new season-high and most since Apr. 7, 2017 against Rollins.
- This was Storrer's fifth shutout of the season.
- This win ends NSU's seven-game losing streak.

FINAL SCORE: Barry University Buccaneers 2 (W: C. Falcon, 11-8); Nova Southeastern Sharks 1 (L: L. Storrer, 10-17)
RECORDS: NSU (17-23, 6-14 SSC), BC (19-25, 4-16 SSC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 8TH: With runners at second and third, the Bucs were able to take advantage of two passed balls allowed by the Sharks to tally their two runs of the day.
BOTTOM 8TH: Leading off the inning with a double down the right field line, Storrer was pushed to third on a single by Bautista and was brought home on an RBI-single by the next batter,
Keeley Mayers.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Mayers was a solid 3-for-4 in game two with one RBI, while Storrer was 1-for-4 and scored once.
- Storrer took the loss, tossing all 8.0 innings and allowing two runs (0 ER) on just three hits with four strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This was the second extra-innings games in three games for the Sharks.
