HOW IT HAPPENED:

BOTTOM 1ST: After drawing a walk and stealing second, Dana Edmundson was brought home as Alex Suzuki sent an RBI-double to deep left center. Miscommunication by the Sailfish defense on pop fly by Daniela Bautista allowed Suzuki to score, before a single to right by Keeley Mayers plated Bautista for an earl 3-0 NSU lead.

TOP 3 | With two outs, a fielding error by the Sharks allowed PBA to cut the deficit to two runs, 3-1.

INSIDE THE STATS:

  • The Sharks were limited to just three hits on the night, but it was just enough as all but one accounted for RBI.
  • Edmundson and Mayers each finished 1-for-2 with a walk, while Suzuki was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Bautista and Mayers accounted for the other two RBI.
  • Lexie Storrer earned the win in the circle, tossing all 7.0 innings and allowing one run (0 ER) on three hits with three strikeouts.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • This is the first win over the Sailfish for the Sharks since Apr. 1, 2014.
  • This is the second Top-10 ranked team NSU has stolen a game from, as the Sharks topped No. 10 Saint Leo on Mar. 9.
