FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Don't sleep on the Sharks! Thanks to a three-run first inning, the Nova Southeastern softball team upset the No. 8 Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish, 3-1, on Friday evening at the AD Griffin Sports Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOTTOM 1ST: After drawing a walk and stealing second,
Dana Edmundson was brought home as
Alex Suzuki sent an RBI-double to deep left center. Miscommunication by the Sailfish defense on pop fly by
Daniela Bautista allowed Suzuki to score, before a single to right by
Keeley Mayers plated Bautista for an earl 3-0 NSU lead.
TOP 3 | With two outs, a fielding error by the Sharks allowed PBA to cut the deficit to two runs, 3-1.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- The Sharks were limited to just three hits on the night, but it was just enough as all but one accounted for RBI.
- Edmundson and Mayers each finished 1-for-2 with a walk, while Suzuki was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Bautista and Mayers accounted for the other two RBI.
- Lexie Storrer earned the win in the circle, tossing all 7.0 innings and allowing one run (0 ER) on three hits with three strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This is the first win over the Sailfish for the Sharks since Apr. 1, 2014.
- This is the second Top-10 ranked team NSU has stolen a game from, as the Sharks topped No. 10 Saint Leo on Mar. 9.

The Sharks will finish the three-game series against the Sailfish with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
