HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Sharks wasted no time in this one, opening with a goal by Loibl on a nice move around the goalie before finding the back of the cage at the 1:46 mark.
- Exactly two minutes later, Aleks Berg collected his first career goal as a Shark to double the early cushion.
- Some miscues in the backend allowed Carlos Bestard and the Statesmen to make close the gap to 2-1 in the 20th minute, which was where the score would remain heading into the half
- Following a sloppy end to the opening 45 minutes, the Sharks returned to the pitch and took complete control. Loibl collected his second score of the game, and third of the season, following a deflection, with both Jan Luca Ahillen and Stefan Faistenauer getting credit for the assists
- Florida International transfer Bradley Fountain would add to the onslaught in the 64th minute, drilling home the rebound off a near-score by Ahillen to stretch the lead to 4-1.
- The Sharks still weren't done, though, as Darwin Lom converted an excellent give-and-go pass from Michael Lawrence to add the icing on the cake for the 5-1 'W'.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Lom recorded his first goal of the season Saturday after finishing sixth in the Sunshine State Conference in that category in 2017.
- A total of 20 players earned playing time in the win, including Jack Kelly, Justen Macias and Nathanael "Squeaky" Washington, who each made their season debut.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- Titouan Le Roux needed only two saves to pick up his first career win in net for the Sharks.
- The Sharks developed much more consistency on offense in the second half, registering 11 shots as opposed to just five in the first half.
- Berg's three points in the victory all came within the opening 3:46 of the match.
- Ahillen's multi-assist performance was the first for a NSU player since Caue Rodrigues did so against Rollins on Oct. 15, 2016.
