HOW IT HAPPENED:

SET 1 | NSU was quick to grab an 8-3 lead in the first set before the Tars responded with a 4-1 run to cut the deficit to two, 9-7, but that would be the closest the Sharks would let them get as a kill by Leslie Atherton sparked an 11-1 run by the home squad for an overwhelming 20-8 advantage. After a couple rallies, Rollins put up back-to-back points but a kill by Atherton and back-to-back kills by Denvyr Tyler-Palmer sealed the 25-13 set one rout by the Sharks.

SET 2 | Tied at 2-2, NSU used errors by RC to take a 4-2 edge before Rollins used four consecutive points to steal the lead, 6-4. The Sharks responded with a 4-0 run of their own to take back the lead. The mid-section of the set was tight, as both teams stayed within four points of each other. At 23-19 in NSU's favor, the Tars made a run for it, putting up three-straight points to come within one, 23-22. Nova Southeastern didn't give up, however, as kills by Gabby Bauch and Tyler-Palmer gave NSU a 25-23 victory and overall 2-0 advantage.

SET 3 | Unlike the first two sets, Rollins controlled the beginning of set three, jumping out to an 8-1 lead before the Sharks were forced to use their first timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the Sharks ignited for a 10-2 run to steal the lead, 11-10. A service error by NSU knotted the game once more, before a kill by Kim Blasko gave the home team the lead, one they would not relinquish for the rest of the set. Rollins was able to cut the deficit to two, 20-18, but a kill by Atherton and an error by RC gave the Sharks enough of an edge to finish, as Bauch gave NSU the win with her 10th kill of the match.
