LAKELAND, Fla. – Entering the match needing just three kills to break the NSU all-time career kills record,
Denvyr Tyler-Palmer quickly inked her name at the top of the list with her nine kills in a 3-0 loss at Florida Southern on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET 1 | NSU was hot to start the match, quickly taking advantage of a 6-0 run to earn a 7-2 lead. The Moccasins responded with a 9-2 run of their own to steal the lead, holding onto that lead for the remainder of the set. A kill by Tyler-Palmer, her record-breaking kill of the night, cut the deficit to four, 18-14, but the Mocs went on to outscore the Sharks, 7-1, for a 25-15 win.
SET 2 | The Sharks were unable to earn the lead in the second set, as the Mocs jumped out to a 13-6 lead. Later on in the set, NSU was able to use a 3-0 run with kills by
Maddie Uilk and
Leslie Atherton, along with an error by the Mocs, to close in at 23-18. That was the closest they would get, however, as Florida Southern went on to earn a 2-0 overall lead with a 25-18 set two victory.
SET 3 | In the closest set of the afternoon, the Sharks were the ones to hold the lead throughout the majority of the game. At 11-10, a kill by
Gabby Bauch and an error by the Mocs gave NSU a 13-10 edge and forced FSC to use their first timeout. As Florida Southern came within one at 14-13, the Sharks took off on an 8-2 run for a 22-15 advantage. The home team wouldn't give up, and responded with a 10-1 run of their own to earn the final set win and overall 3-0 sweep.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Tyler-Palmer led all Sharks with her nine kills, as Bauch followed closely behind with seven. Tyler-Palmer also added four service aces, two blocks and 10 digs.
- Kim Blasko contributed six kills while Amanda Pultorak had three blocks and five kills.
- Uilk also had five kills to accompany her two blocks.
- Samantha Blasko registered 17 assists and Caylee Cox tallied 12 along with six digs.
- Megan Burn picked up a team-high 14 digs.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Tyler-Palmer now holds the NSU record in career kills, career attack attempts, individual match attack attempts, individual match points, individual season kills per set and individual season attack attempts.
- Tyler-Palmer's four aces and were a season high, while Pultorak's five kills were a career-high.
- Tonight's loss puts the overall series at 28-6 in FSC's favor.
