MELBOURNE, Fla. – Fresh off his monster performance in Nova Southeastern's thrilling win over No. 17 Lynn, forward
Mark Matthews has been named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, announced earlier on Monday.
In a battle between the league's top two teams, the redshirt junior carried the Sharks with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists while playing all 40 minutes of the 87-85 victory. Matthews finished 12-of-20 from the floor, with no shot bigger than his game-winning putback with 0.5 seconds remaining to secure Nova Southeastern's third 'W' against a ranked opponent already this season.
Following his fifth double-double on the year, Matthews now ranks among the Top-5 in the SSC in: scoring (19.2 ppg), rebounding (8.8 rpg) and field goal percentage (.586).
