HOW IT HAPPENED:
1ST QUARTER | After trading the first two buckets of the game, the Sharks went on a 7-0 run in under two minutes. They made five of their first six field goals of the game, while holding the Eagles to just one on their first 10 attempts, including a streak of six misses in a row that spanned 5:19. After the Eagles made their first shot, a three-pointer almost three minutes in, the Sharks then used an 8-1 run to take a double-digit lead (17-6) for the first time at the 3:42 mark.
Maria Bardeeva scored the last seven points for the Sharks, part of 11 total in the quarter on 5-of-6 shooting, to give the team a 24-13 lead after 10 minutes. During the period, the Sharks shot 55.6% from the field to Embry-Riddle's 21.4%, while Prasse had the triple-double watch going early, already with five rebounds, four assists, two points and two steals.
2ND QUARTER | The Sharks never saw their lead drop back into single-digit territory for the rest of the game, as they shot even better in the next frame, making 9 of 13 field goals (69.2%), including each of their first five and three straight layups by
Jordan Tully. They steadily built up their lead throughout the quarter, leading by as many as 19 points before taking a 46-28 lead into the locker room. The Sharks also benefitted from Embry-Riddle missing another six field goals in a row in the first half of the period, going 3:39 without a make, and another streak of four straight possessions with a turnover in the latter part of the quarter. Prasse added another three assists, a layup and a rebound before halftime, giving her a total of seven assists, six rebounds and four points.
3RD QUARTER | The Eagles made the first shot out of halftime, a three-pointer just under two minutes in. The Sharks responded, though, with back-to-back three-pointers of their own by
Alison Hughes and
Claire McMahon to take their first 20-point lead of the afternoon, at 52-31, and led by 20 or more for the last 4:22 of the quarter. Prasse picked up two more assists and a rebound, leaving her just one assist, three rebounds and six points away from completing the impressive feat for the second time in four days.
4TH QUARTER | With the game no longer in doubt, all eyes were on Prasse, and she delivered. A three-pointer about 1:30 in got her half of the remaining points she needed before corralling a rebound just 13 seconds later, then her ninth of the game at the 6:20 mark. She completed that part of the achievement first, as she collected another and immediately drew a foul just inside the 4:00 mark, hitting both of her free throws, and was just one assist and one point away. She fed Bardeeva for her 21
st and final point for the 10th assist a mere 20 second later, and hit a running jumper with 2:40 remaining to seal the deal.
