HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both offenses were slow out the gate Tuesday night, as a Jan Luca Ahillen attempt was the lone shot by either side in the opening 19:21 of the game. The first shot by the Saints, though, found the back of the net when Peik Koskinen beat NSU keeper Tito Le Roux in the 20th minute to hand the home team the 1-0 edge.
- The Sharks nearly evened up the match in the 37th minute, but caught an unlucky break after Matty Cornish's header clanked off the left post before Henrik Berg's rebound attempt was then turned away by Flagler keeper Andrea Lubbia.
- NSU held a slight 4-2 advantage In shots, yet entered halftime down 1-0.
- The Sharks were in search of a spark, but instead fell further behind in the 51st minute following the first goal of the season for Flagler's Joran Osland.
- NSU still faced a two-goal deficit in the 79th minute. However, after Michael Lawrence was taken down in the box, Curtis Thorn converted the ensuing penalty kick to cut the lead in half.
- Rightfully so, the initial goal injected some life into the Sharks, who then needed less than four more minutes to even up the game. Following a turnover by the Saints, Lucas Dessoliers gained possession and quickly played a beautiful ball ahead to Lawrence. Using his speed, Lawrence blew past the last of the Flagler defense and drilled a shot into the low, left corner of the net for his team-leading seventh goal of the season.
- Christian Gorski recorded the only shot for the Sharks in the first period of extra time. However, the sophomore's attempt from left wing sailed high as time expired.
- NSU controlled the last 10 minutes of extra time, tallying three shots and a pair of corner kicks. Lawrence threatened to end the game in the 110th minute, yet missed high from a tough angle before the final whistle blew with the score knotted at 2-2.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Tuesday marked the second time already this season the Sharks have overcome a two-goal, second-half deficit, doing so at Wingate in another 2-2 draw on Sept. 14.
- Lawrence's seven goals rank tops in the SSC.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- After being held without a corner kick in the first half, NSU combined for six during the second half and overtime periods.
- Sebastian Loibl led the team with four shots in the effort.
