FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Traveling for the first time of the 2019-20 season, the Nova Southeastern men and women's swim teams topped the Rollins Tars in their home pool on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Sharks picked up two wins to start the dual meet, as the women's medley team of Cassandra Wright, Caily Friel, Sasha Maslova and Jenna Johns recorded a winning time of 1:45.79 and the men's team, Aleksei Averchenko, Alessandro Xella, Magnus Poulsen and Martin Hemminghyth finished in 1:33.35.
- The 200 free relay teams on both sides also earned two victories to conclude the meet. On the women's side, Wright, Laurel Fink, Solana Capalbo and Johns won in 1:37.97 while the men (Alec Dawson, Hemminghyth, Poulsen and Jonathan Yanello) posted a time of 1:37.97.
TOP INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS:
- In the 1000 freestyle, Emma Sundstedt topped the competition in 10:27.64. She also picked up the win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:10.07.
- Vincent Lijoi did the same thing on the men's side, winning the 1000 free in 9:48.89 and the 500 free in 4:41.71.
- In the 200 freestyle, Maslova won the event in 1:56.13, just .03 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Beatriz Olivieri of Rollins. Olivieri got her revenge in the 200 butterfly, however, taking first place over Maslova by .06 seconds.
- Dawson completed the 200 free sweep with a winning time of 1:42.56.
- On the women's side of the 100 IM, Wright won in 58.61 and Averchenko won on the men's side in 52.34.
- Matteo Masiero grabbed first place in the 200 fly in 1:54.46.
- The Sharks swept the next four events, as Johns and Poulsen won the 100 freestyle in 52.72 and 47.00, respectively, Abigail Schwartz (2:05.81) and Xella (1:52.34) beat the Tars in the 200 backstroke and Friel and Samuel Brettmann won the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.61 and 2:07.57, respectively, in addition to the aforementioned 500 freestyle wins.

The Sharks will continue SSC competition on Saturday morning as they travel to Melbourne, Fla. to take on the Florida Tech Panthers at 10:00 a.m.
