Emma Sundstedt and senior
Vincent Lijoi were awarded this season's first titles.
Sundstedt helped lead NSU to back-to-back Sunshine State Conference wins over the weekend, first topping Rollins College 145-60 on Friday, before returning to down Florida Tech 145-59 on Saturday. Against Rollins, the Hasselby, Sweden native finished first in the 1,000 freestyle in 10:27.64, while also picking up the win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:10.07. In the win over FIT, Sundstedt earned her third-consecutive win in the 500 freestyle in 5:15.52, while also serving as the anchor in the 200 medley relay, which also placed first in 1:39.75. This is her fifth SSC Swimmer of the Week award of her career.
The men's team also recorded dominating performances against Rollins and Florida Tech, beating the Tars 148-57 before topping FIT 161-44 the next day. Lijoi earned wins in the 1,000 freestyle and 500 freestyle against Rollins in 9:48.89 and 4:41.71, respectively. He also won two events in a dual meet against Florida Tech, first winning the 200 free in 1:45.02 before going on to win the 500 freestyle for the second-straight meet in 4:44.19.
The Sharks will return to the NSU Aquatic Center to host the 10th-Annual Shark Invitational, starting on Friday, Oct. 11 at 5:00 p.m.
