HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rollins wasted no time forcing the attack early in the match. In the fourth minute, NSU keeper Natalie Robayna stopped an initial shot attempt, but the ball slipped away from her grasp and the Tars sent the rebound into the back of the net.
- The Sharks battled back shortly thereafter, but their first shot in the seventh minute was saved.
- The game continued in its 1-0 state well into the second half. After a foul in the box in the 82nd minute, though, the Tars lined up for a penalty kick. Robayna was able to bat it away, but it then set up a corner kick. After an additional save, the third time proved to be the charm, as the Tars scored an insurance goal and left the Sharks with just eight minutes remaining.
- The Sharks managed two shots during that time, the former missing high and the latter resulting in a Tars save with 29 seconds to go.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Robayna matched her season high of six saves by the 29th minute, and surpassed her previous career high of nine in the 76th. The sophomore finished the match with 12 total saves, the most by a Sharks keeper since Oct. 24, 2012, when Amanda Kopale registered 13 in a 1-0, non-conference loss at Florida Tech.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- The Tars maintained a shot advantage throughout the game, ending up 19-11 in their favor, including 9-5 in the first half and 10-6 after halftime.
- Of the Sharks' 11 shots, six were on goal, while the Tars were on target with 14 of their 19 shots.
- Robayna, starting back-to-back games in net for the first time this season, made six saves in each half for the Sharks, while Elena Beasley stopped three shots in each half for the Tars
- Emma Heikkila led NSU with five shots, including three on goal, and was followed closely behind by Adanna Edwards' three and two, respectively. Gaby Moreira, Paige Napolitano, and Emily O'Connell accounted for the other three shots for the Sharks
- The Sharks trailed at halftime for just the second time all season, and were outshot for only the third.
