HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET 1 | The Panthers scored the first two points, but that would be their lone lead of the game as the Sharks exploded on a 9-1 run, capped with a kill by
Ally Ford to take a 9-3 lead. A 4-0 run by FIT brought them within four at 17-13, but with no timeouts left, they couldn't hold off the Sharks, who continued to put on the pressure, taking the first set 25-17.
SET 2 | A kill by
Alex Boone jumpstarted the second set, as the Sharks quickly grabbed an 8-2 lead. At 17-11 in favor of NSU, a 5-0 run gave the Sharks their largest lead of the set, 11 points at 22-11. A 3-0 run by the Panthers was their last shot at a comeback, but a 3-1 run capped with a kill by
Gabby Bauch closed the set with another Shark win, this time a commanding 25-15.
SET 3 | Leading 9-4, the Panthers used a 5-0 run to tie things up, 9-9. After the two teams exchanged points, a 3-0 run sparked by a kill by
Emily Sippel pushed the Sharks out in front 13-10 and forced FIT to call timeout. It didn't take long for Nova Southeastern to extend their lead, going up 19-12 thanks to a block by
Brittany Landrum and
Ally Ford. At 23-16, Florida Tech tried to make things interesting, tallying four unanswered points to come within three at 23-20. It wouldn't be enough to change the inevitable outcome, however, as back-to-back kills by Boone finished the set, 25-21, giving NSU the sweep.
