Sharks Tennis Sweeps No. 25 Georgia College to Complete Perfect Weekend

For the second straight day, NSU goes 7-0 on the road in Georgia

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Making a complete sweep on the weekend at the VSU Tennis Courts, No. 8 Nova Southeastern women's tennis (3-0) defeated No. 25 Georgia College (2-1) in straight sets on Sunday afternoon, topping their second ranked team of the year.
 
Doubles
  • In Sunday's outing, it was Freshman Diane Follin-Arbelet and junior Isabella Lowrey that delivered the first victory of the day, earning a 6-1, No. 3 doubles win over Emma Fleming and Kim Yatribi.
  • Securing the doubles team win, junior Sarah Wardenburg and freshman Natalie Espinal topped Paula Garriga and Jordan Bowie, 6-3.
  • Closing out doubles with a straight sweep, No. 1 pair senior Ana Navas and junior Daniela Obando defeated Emilia Richter and Valeria Lopez 6-3.
Singles
  • First to the finish, No. 13 ITA Espinal got the Sharks going from the No. 2 singles position, defeating Lopez, 6-0, 6-1.
  • The No. 9 ITA-ranked player nationally, Navas followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Richter in No. 1 singles.
  • Securing her second individual victory for the Sharks, sophomore Chantal Nosievici topped Bowie, 6-1, 6-2.
  • Follin-Arbelet earned her second victory of the day with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Fleming from the No. 5 singles slot.
  • Wardenburg defeated Garriga in a 6-2, 6-4 win in No. 4 singles.
  • Obando closed off the full sweep of the Bobcats with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Yatriba in the third flight.

Up Next: After a full week off the court, the Sharks finally open up at home, hosting Florida National (1-2) on Sunday, Feb. 17 at the NSU Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 9:00 a.m.
