MELBOURNE, Fla. – Officials from the Sunshine State Conference announced on Monday that Nova Southeastern junior designated hitter
Andrew Labosky has been named SSC Baseball Player of the Week for his role in leading NSU past Palm Beach Atlantic and a series sweep against Florida Southern.
The honor is the second of Labosky's career and the second for NSU as a team this season.
The Coral Springs, Fla. junior aided NSU offensively to a 4-0 week that included a single midweek, non-conference win over Palm Beach Atlantic and three straight conference wins over Florida Southern to close out the 2019 regular season. The DH's top game was the opener against Florida Southern, in which he recorded three hits - two for extra bases - and three RBI. For the week, Labosky went 8-for-15 at the plate with five walks, five runs batted in and six runs scored while slashing .533/.650/.733.
On the season, Labosky is leading the team average, hitting .396 with 34 games on the year, registering 25 RBI and 32 runs.
With the regular season completed, the Sharks await the final South Region rankings and the announcement of post season selections. While other regional teams are mostly closing out their seasons this week, NSU wrapped the season on a five-game winning streak and are projected to head to their fifth consecutive postseason in mid-May.
