FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Despite
Ally Ford's game-high 17 kills, the Nova Southeastern volleyball team dropped a four-set affair to the host No. 16 Barry Buccaneers on Saturday afternoon. Down one set, the Sharks were able to tie it up at a set apiece before the Bucs went on to take the next two sets for the overall victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET 1 | With the Sharks trailing 5-4, the Bucs used a 5-0 run to take a stronger lead at 10-4. A kill by 1
Sami Spadaro and a block by
Brittany Landrum and
Gabby Bauch brought the Sharks within four at 12-8, but that was as close as they would get as the Bucs went on to win set one, 25-16.
SET 2 | After an opening ace by Barry, NSU used a kill by Landrum to spark a 7-0 run to grab an early and impressive lead. Another run capped with a kill by
Emily Sippel put the Sharks up by a set-high eight points at 12-4, and tied that lead at 17-9 with an ace by Ford. The Bucs hinted at a comeback, using a 6-0 run to come within two at 20-18, before kills by
Alex Boone and Ford pushed NSU's lead back out to four. Barry came within two again at 22-20 until a pair of Ford kills made it set-point in NSU's favor. After Barry used a 3-0 run to make it a one point game at 24-23, a kill by Ford sealed the deal and evened the match with a 25-23 Sharks win.
SET 3 | Down 5-4, a kill by Ford and back-to-back errors by the Bucs pushed the Sharks ahead, 7-5. Barry was able to take back the lead with a 4-0 run to make it 10-8, before NSU tied it up with kills by Landrum and Ford. The game saw one more tie at 11-11 thanks to another Ford kill, before the Bucs went on a 14-2 scoring run to take set three, 25-13.
SET 4 | The Sharks grabbed the lead early in the set, 5-3, with kills by Landrum and Ford and a block by Sippel before an 8-1 run by Barry made it a five-point in their favor, 11-6. A late run by the Sharks including kills by Boone and Ford and a block by Sippel brought NSU within three at 21-18, but Barry closed it out with a 4-1 run to win set four 25-19 and grab an overall 3-1 win.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Along with her game-high 17 kills, Ford made it a double-double with 11 digs. She also added four service aces.
- Landrum finished with nine kills, putting up two blocks and making three digs.
- Boone tallied seven kills with zero errors, posting a .467 hitting percentage.
- Sippel and Spadaro each had six kills apiece, as Sippel added seven digs.
- Aleyna Kennel picked up 12 digs, adding two assists.
- Madison Cook recorded 31 assists and had seven digs of her own.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Cook's 31 assists were a season-high, surpassing her previous high of 28 against Grand Valley State on Sept. 14.
- This was Ford's third double-double of the season. Her four aces were also a season-high.
