Strong Finish Propels NSU into a Tie for 10th at Southeastern Collegiate

Sharks shoot collective (+1) 289 Tuesday

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Continuing its gradual climb up the leaderboard Tuesday, the Nova Southeastern men's golf team wrapped up play at the Southeastern Collegiate on a high note, earning a tie for 10th in an impressive field that featured 10 teams currently ranked among the nation's Top-25.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Two shots off the pace to begin the morning, top-ranked Georgia Southwestern eventually ran away with the team title after firing a tournament-low round of (-7) 281 on Tuesday. The Hurricanes finished at six-under par for the week, eight strokes clear of runner-up Columbus State.
  • West Florida (+4), the 36-hole leader, slid back to third, while Barry (+8) and Saint Leo (+9) completed the overall Top-5.
  • At six-under par, Vincent Norrman capped off the wire-to-wire victory, giving Georgia Southwestern the clean sweep with both the individual and team trophies.
  • Freshman Emanuel Olofsson shined throughout the final round, matching a season-best with a score of (-3) 69. Olofsson opened the day with two straight birdies before sinking an eagle on the Par-5 4th, ultimately tying for 27th at four-over par.
  • A rather steady performance by Mike Hay, one that included 13 pars, lifted the freshman into 36th-place tie. Hay followed up rounds of 75 and 74 with a one-over par 73 Tuesday to conclude the week at six-over par.
  • A 54-hole score of eight-over par slotted Tomas Millet into a share of 42nd for the tournament.
  • A birdie-eagle start by Daniel Celestino set the tone on a round of one-over par 73. The sophomore's effort propelled him into a tie for 48th at nine-over par overall.
  • Victor Jimenez (+13) finished tied for 69th.
STATS OF THE DAY:
  • NSU's two combined eagles ranked second-most in the field.
  • Olofsson's Par-5 scoring average of 4.67 tied for fifth among all 93 players.   .
  • The course played the easiest it had all week on Tuesday, as the average score finished at 74.25 Tuesday.
BEYOND THE SCORECARD:
  • Georgia Southwestern was the only team under par for the tournament.
