Sharks Volleyball Welcomes Loutzenhiser to Coaching Staff

NCAA Div. I player Loutzenhiser joins staff as an assistant coach

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern volleyball team has added to its spring roster, this time on the coaching side. Head coach Brian Rosen is proud to announce the addition of Emily Loutzenhiser (O'Neil) as an assistant coach who will be starting this spring. Loutzenhiser, an NCAA Div. I volleyball student-athlete at the University of Northern Colorado, makes it three members on the NSU volleyball coaching staff, including Rosen and assistant coach Selene Teitelbaum.

"I am so excited to welcome Emily to our coaching staff," explained Rosen. "From our first conversation, I could feel her excitement for coaching and knew she could add something special to our program. The fact that she is from the South Florida area, coaches at one of the top clubs in the area and has high-level DI playing experience were added bonuses. Emily will be able to start right away and train our middles and right sides, a position of incredible talent on our roster. I cannot wait to see the development of our offense and blocking with her guidance.

"The best part about Emily is her shared passion for our program and belief in what we can accomplish. After meeting our players, she learned very quickly why Selene and I rave about them as individuals and their competitive work ethic on and off the court. Emily is ready to help the Sharks achieve their goals in the 2020 season and beyond, and I can't wait to get started working with her."

Loutzenhiser graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in nutrition. She finished her three year Bear volleyball career with 522 kills, hitting over .270 each year. Defensively, she racked up 232 blocks. Throughout the course of her career, Loutzenhiser garnered numerous awards and honors, including 2017 Big Sky All-Conference, three-time Big Sky Academic All-Conference and Team Captain.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the Sharks volleyball staff," exclaimed Loutzenhiser. "There is something really special about the culture of this group, and I'm excited to be a part of what Brian, Selene, and these student-athletes already started here. We are a part of an incredible volleyball conference, and I can't wait to help make an impact with this team."

Since graduation, Loutzenhiser has been coaching national teams at Tribe Volleyball Club and assisting the varsity team at her alma mater, Chaminade-Madonna High School. She lives in Miami Gardens, Fla. with her husband, Matt, and daughter, Joss.
