FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Competing in the Shark Tank for the first time since January 2020, the Nova Southeastern swim teams took care of business, picking up a pair of wins over the visiting Lynn Fighting Knights. The women swam first in the morning, topping the Fighting Knights 172-33, before the men closed out the day with a 166-36 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- For the second-straight day, all four Nova Southeastern A-relays grabbed first place in their respective events.
- The 400 medley relay was the first race of each meet. Cassandra Wright, Kaylee Gassen, Sasha Maslova and Hannah Trieschmann earned the first win of the day for the Sharks with a time of 3:50.82. Later in the day, the men's team including Martin Hemminghyth, Olle Williamsson, Juan Zapata and Alec Dawson also won with their time of 3:22.64
- The women's 200 freestyle relay made up of Trieschmann, Audrey Rackel, Laurel Fink and Allison Kopas finished on top with their time of 1:36.63. On the men's side, Anton Mueller, Dawson, Hemminghyth and Jonathon Yanello earned the win in 1:22.79.
TOP INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS (WOMEN):
- Kopas finished on top in the first individual event of the day, the 1,000 freestyle, with a time of 10:31.54. She also went on to win the 100 freestyle in 53.12.
- The next event, the 200 freestyle, saw Fink grab the win in 1:58.09.
- Trieschmann finished first in the 50 freestyle, posting a time of 24.17.
- Gassen topped the competition in the 100 individual medley, recording a time of 57.70. This time also serves as a new NSU program record. She logged her second individual win of the day in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.33).
- Brady Estrada earned her first win as a Shark in the 200 butterfly, finishing with a time of 2:07.98.
- Wright picked up the win for NSU in the 200 backstroke in 2:05.73.
TOP INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS (MEN):
- Jarryd Baxter kicked things off for the men in the 1,000 freestyle, taking the event in 9:44.14. He also won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:50.45.
- Williamsson (1:42.87) and Spencer Hohm (1:42.91) came down to the wire, finishing first and second, respectively, in the 200 freestyle. Williamsson also went on to win the 200 breaststroke in 2:05.54.
- In the men's 50 freestyle, Yanello posted a winning time of 21.08.
- Samuel Brettmann topped the competition in the 100 individual medley, winning the event in 52.03.
- Alessandro Xella earned the win in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:54.04.
- Dawson picked up an individual in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 46.33.
- Caleb Fell captured first place in the 500 freestyle, winning with a time of 4:47.05.
UP NEXT:
The Sharks will be back in action next weekend, hosting Sunshine State Conference rival Tampa in a double dual meet on Feb. 6. The first meet is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. and the second will start at 2:00 p.m.
