HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Sharks took three of the game's first four shots, and it paid off for them in the 22nd minute when Odei Arrieta hit Aleks Berg with a cross for a perfectly arched shot into the top right corner from the top of the box.
- Only three shots followed for the rest of the half, with both goalkeepers making saves in the 32nd minute.
- The second half followed the defensive theme of the opening period, with the Sharks attempting two shots in the first 20 minutes before the Panthers knotted the match in the 66th.
- NSU had the only opportunity in the next 20 minutes, as well, keeping the game tied for Sar-Sar to play the hero this time. Tobias Pellio set a corner kick into the box, which was headed by Matty Cornish and tipped out by the keeper and directly to Sar-Sar, who was able to head it back into the net for the late go-ahead score with 3:58 on the clock.
- The Panthers had one more chance in the final four minutes to equalize it again, but their shot with 92 seconds remaining was stopped by Sharks keeper Alberto Ciroi.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- The Sharks controlled possession in this defense-heavy affair, holding a 9-4 shot advantage. Of their nine shots, six were on target, while Florida Tech was a perfect 4-for-4 in shots on goal.
- Arrieta and Sar-Sar, both transfer students playing their first seasons with the program, both notched their first career points as Sharks.
- A. Berg, meanwhile, scored his second goal of the year and seventh of his career to go along with his 14 assists, giving him 28 points all-time.
- The two Bergs, Aleks and Henrik, shared the team lead with two shots each.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Each of the Sharks' last four games have been decided in either the last eight minutes of regulation or in overtime. On September 14, Michael Lawrence scored the game-winner with 3:20 left to defeat Barry, and Lynn hit the golden goal 1:41 into overtime on September 22, both at home. One week ago, on September 25, Milos Christoforou scored twice in the final 7:19 for the road win at Florida Southern.
