HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Only two minutes in, the Bucs took the game's first shot from just outside the right corner of the box, with NSU keeper Shannon Hearty making the save easily.
- Both teams became rather passive, however. The Sharks' first try, a header by Louise Matsgard, was blocked in the eighth minute, and Hearty stopped another chance in the 15th. The only action for the next 25 minutes came from Lily Truong at point-blank range 28 minutes in.
- In the 40th minute, following a Sharks foul on the far side near midfield, the Bucs took a free kick that somehow got past their line of attackers and the Sharks' line of defenders and rolled into the net untouched for the first, and, as time would tell, only score of the game.
- Everything the Sharks tried in the second half was thwarted, as well. The action ramped up about 18 minutes in, with Hearty later adding two more saves in the 63rd and 70th minutes.
- The Sharks got off three attempts of their own in the last 20 minutes, but to no avail.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- Each team attempted just six shots on the night, five on goal for Barry, compared to three for NSU. For the Sharks' defense, that number represented a season-low for shots allowed in conference play. Unfortunately, it was also the fewest the offense has gotten off all season, as they came into the match averaging over 14 per.
- Half of the Sharks' six shots came from Matsgard, while Truong, Chama Silva and Jordyn Pitter provided the other three.
