#17 Sharks Start Crossover with Sweep over AUM

#17 NSU Cruises to Sweep over Warhawks

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - No. 17 Nova Southeastern began play at the South Region Crossover on Friday afternoon, taking on Auburn-Montgomery. The Sharks defeated the Warhawks for the second time in 2021, winning the match in three sets over their GSAC foes.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The beginning of the rematch between NSU and AUM opened as a back-and-forth affair, with both teams being tied at 10-10.  
  • Two consecutive errors from the Warhawks gave Nova Southeastern a 15-13 advantage. 
  • The Sharks closed the set on a 10-2 run, taking the set 25-15. 
  • During the rally, Marianna Fiocco, Alex Psoma, and Amanda Hall all recorded kills, while Madison Cook added a service ace.  
  • AUM started the second set with an 8-6 lead, but the Sharks responded with a 5-0 run. NSU capitalized on three Warhawk errors and also received kills from Bruna Avila and Julia Bernardes
  • NSU extended its advantage with an 8-1 run, extending the lead to 20-11. 
  • Elizabeth Price book-ended a set-winning 5-0 rally for NSU, adding two kills, as the Sharks won the second set 25-12. 
  • Nova Southeastern maintained its momentum into the third set, taking an insurmountable 10-1 lead over AUM. 
  • During the run, McKenna Tucek added a kill and a block to lead the rally. 
  • Back-to-back service aces from Avila gave NSU a 15-3 lead. 
  • Cambry Pope and Jordan Chessar added points for the Sharks in a 6-0 run, putting the score at 24-10. 
  • NSU recorded the sweep following an error from the Warhawks, recording the third set win 25-13.  

UP NEXT 
No.17 NSU returns to action with a doubleheader at the South Region Crossover on Sat., Oct. 23, first taking on Union (TN.) and closing the tournament in a match against tenth-ranked West Florida.
