WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The No. 17 Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball team completed play at the South Region Crossover, splitting day two of the event on Saturday. The Sharks defeated the Bulldogs of Union in four-sets but dropped the finale of the tournament in four-sets to No. 10 West Florida.

HOW IT HAPPENED (UNION)
- Trailing 11-5 in the early stages of the first set, Nova Southeastern rallied for a 6-0 run to tie the set at 11-11.
- Marianna Fiocco, Alex Psoma, and Amanda Hall each added kills during the rally for the Sharks.
- NSU found themselves trailing 15-13 later in the set, before Elizabeth Price and Julia Bernardes sparked a 7-1 run to put the score at 20-16 in favor of the Sharks.
- Psoma and Hall recorded back-to-back kills to seal the first set victory for NSU.
- Union took an early 4-1 advantage over Nova Southeastern in the second set, before three consecutive kills from Cambry Pope and Marianna Fiocco brought the set back to even at 4-4.
- Psoma and Fiocco led another Sharks rally, as the pair recorded multiple kills to put Nova Southeastern ahead 15-11.
- Price put a stamp on another run for the Sharks, capping off a 5-0 rally with two consecutive kills as NSU took a 20-14 lead.
- Psoma closed the set with the final two kills as NSU took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-20 second set win.
- The Sharks trailed 10-4 at the beginning of the third set.
- NSU could not cut the deficit to less than five points throughout the third set, dropping it 25-18.
- Nova Southeastern jumped to an early 7-4 lead over Union with back-to-back kills from Elizabeth Price.
- Bernardes started an incredible 9-1 rally for the Sharks, which was capped off by two consecutive service aces from Preslee Brooksbank, as NSU led 16-5.
- McKenna Tucek and Jordan Chessar recorded the final three points for NSU, as No. 17 Nova Southeastern recorded their 17th win of the season with a 25-12 win in set four over Union.
HOW IT HAPPENED vs #10 West Florida
- The Argonauts began the game with a 5-1 run, Price stopped the early momentum with a kill which was followed by a kill from Fiocco.
- UWF opened their advantage to 10-4 over NSU, forcing the Sharks to use a timeout.
- Nova Southeastern was unable to cut the deficit to less than four for the remainder of the first set, taking the win 25-17.
- NSU started the second set with a 3-1 lead, taking advantage of two West Florida errors.
- Nova Southeastern kept UWF at bay and used a 4-0 run to lead 14-10 over UWF.
- Psoma added a service ace during the run, which was punctuated by a kill from Price.
- The two teams traded points back-and-forth, sitting tied at 23-23.
- Facing a chance to fall behind 2-0 in the match, Bernardes added a kill to once again tie the set at 24-24.
- Price sealed the second set win with a kill and a service ace, giving the Sharks a 27-25 victory.
- Hall tied the third set at 6-6 with a kill of her own.
- A 4-0 run by the Sharks, which included a service ace from Brooksbank and a block from Psoma and Fiocco gave NSU a 10-7 advantage.
- UWF responded with a 7-0 run of their own, taking a 14-10 lead over NSU.
- The Sharks called a timeout trailing 16-11.
- NSU rallied to cut the deficit to 20-18 with back-to-back blocks from Brittany Landrum.
- West Florida closed the third set with a 25-21 win.
- Cook started the fourth-set with a service ace, as the Sharks took an early lead.
- NSU led 9-5 in the fourth set after three consecutive kills from Psoma.
- The Argonauts tied the set at 16-16 later in the set.
- UWF rallied for three consecutive points, forcing NSU to use a timeout with the score at 19-17.
- The Sharks were unable to get within four points, dropping their second match of the 2021 season in four-sets to No. 10 West Florida.
