Sharks Late Push Against Marauders Falls Short

NSU Rallies in Second Half

BILLINGS, MT. – Despite outscoring their opponent in the second half, the Nova Southeastern Women's Basketball team fell against the Mary Maruders on Saturday afternoon, losing 67-62 from the Alterowitz Gym on day two of the D2CCA Tip-off Classic at the Trailhead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER: Sh'naya Anderson recorded the first three points for the Sharks, with each coming off of free throws. NSU trailed 5-10 after Madeline Hardy added to points from the charity stripe. Hailey Conley scored five consecutive points for the Sharks after making a three-pointer and a layup to put the score at 10-17. After the first quarter, Nova Southeastern trailed 10-20.

2ND QUARTER: Mary extended its lead to 10-23 over NSU, but McKenah Peters recorded her first three-point make of the game to bring the Sharks within eight at 15-23. Peters added another three-pointer moments later, putting the score at 18-30. Grace Gilmore and Hardy led a 6-0 run to close the first half, as the Sharks went into the break trailing 31-39.

3RD QUARTER: Peters' third three-pointer of the game brought Nova Southeastern to within single-digits, 34-41. Kyarrah Grant scored five straight points for NSU, putting the score at 41-51. At the end of the third quarter, Nova Southeastern was trailing 43-53.

4TH QUARTER: With six minutes remaining in the game, the Sharks got within two possessions as Conley added a three-point make off an assist from India Shepherd, putting the score at 53-58. Keanna Williams brought NSU within three-points after converting a lay-up with 3:22 left in the quarter. Conley finished an and-one with just over a minute remaining, putting the Score at 62-64. The Marauders sealed the game from the free throw line, adding three points in the final five-seconds to defeat the Sharks.

UP NEXT
NSU concludes play at the D2CCA Tip-off Classic at the Trailhead on Sun., Nov. 7, against Minot State. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
