Gilmore, Conley lead Sharks to Win over Beavers

NSU Leaves Montana trip with Two Wins

BILLINGS, MT. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks Women's Basketball team earned their second win of the season and closed out play at the D2CCA Tip-off Classic at the Trailhead on Sunday afternoon, defeating Minot State 74-69 from the Alterowitz Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER: Minot State opened the game on an 8-2 run, spanning the first three-minutes of the contest. Kyarrah Grant made a three-pointer to get on the board and cut the Beavers lead to 7-10. NSU trailed 8-16 with less than four-minutes remaining in the quarter. Hailey Conley made back-to-back three-pointers, putting the Sharks down 14-18.

2ND QUARTER: Conley scored the first four points of the second quarter for the Sharks, giving the senior ten straight, bringing NSU back within four (18-22). With less than five minutes remaining in the half, Conley added another three-pointer, putting the score at 28-30. Nova Southeastern went into the half trailing 32-36.

3RD QUARTER: McKenah Peters made a three-pointer to bring the Sharks within one, 39-40, with 6:35 on the clock. Grace Gilmore tied the game at the charity stripe, and Peters followed with another three-pointer to give the Sharks a 43-42 advantage. Keanna Williams extended the NSU lead to 47-42 with a layup. The Beavers closed the third quarter on a 6-0 run, heading into the fourth quarter with the Sharks trailing 47-50.

4TH QUARTER: MSU added to its run, starting the fourth quarter on an 11-4 rally, putting the Sharks behind 51-61. Back-to-back three pointers from Peters brought NSU within six, trailing 57-63. Five straight points from Gilmore gave Nova Southeastern a late lead, with the Sharks ahead 64-63. Grant gave NSU the lead for good with one minute remaining in the contest, sinking a free throw. Gilmore helped seal the win for NSU, as the Sharks won 74-67.

  • Four Sharks scored in double-digits to lead the offense; Conley (20), Gilmore (18), Grant (16), and Peters (14) were all in double-digits.
UP NEXT
Nova Southeastern returns to the Rick Case Arena on 11/12 for the home-opener against St. Augustine's. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
