Cook Honored with Setter of the Week Award by SSC

Madison Cook claims first SSC honor of career

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference released the first addition of the 2021 Players of the Week awards for the fall semester on Monday. Madison Cook, a redshirt-sophomore from Oviedo, Fla., earned her first career SSC Setter of the Week honor after leading Nova Southeastern to a 3-0 start to the season at the NSU Volleyball Shark Invitational.  

Cook recorded an incredible 106 assists in three matches, averaging 10.6 assists per set to lead the SSC, to go along with nine service aces, also tops in the SSC. She facilitated the Sharks offense, as NSU hit 0.297 for the opening weekend – second in the SSC – and averaged 14.3 kills per set to lead the SSC.  

Cook opened the 2021 season by setting a career high in assists in a single match, tallying 51 against Pittsburg State as the Sharks won in four sets.  

The Sharks return to action on Fri., Sept. 10 with the second NSU Shark Invitational, presented by Courtyard Marriott. NSU takes on Dominican College (NY.) at 1 p.m.
