LAKELAND, Fla. – Despite
McKenah Peters' scoring a season-best 31 points, the Nova Southeastern Sharks Women's Basketball team fell 78-69 in a road Sunshine State Conference showdown against Florida Southern on Saturday evening. Peters was incredibly efficient, scoring her 31 points on 8-14 shooting, including 6-9 from beyond the arc.

HOW IT HAPPENED

ST QUARTER – Following the first quarter media timeout, Peters recorded her first three-pointer of the game, tying the score at 7-7.
Madeline Hardy gave the Sharks their first lead of the contest by making a free throw, as NSU led with 3:41 remaining. Peters second three-point make of the quarter put Nova Southeastern in front 14-13 in the final minute. NSU closed out the frame with a 15-14 advantage.

ND QUARTER – FSC reclaimed the lead in the early moments of the second period, but a lay-up from
India Shepherd, following a steal, tied the game at 19-19. The Moccasins finished the half on a 13-0 run, as the Sharks went into the break trailing 37-23.

RD QUARTER – The Sharks tried to battle back early in the third, as Sh'naya Anderson sank two free throws to cut the deficit to 43-30. Later in the quarter, Shepherd converted an and-one, once
again putting the Florida Southern lead at 13. After three quarters, NSU trailed 55-38.

TH QUARTER – Peters sparked an 8-1 run by the Sharks, scoring five points, as the rally brought the score to 63-51. After trailing by as many as 21, Peters splashed home another three-pointer, cutting the FSC lead to single digits, 65-57 with 3:21 remaining in the game. Peters brought the Sharks to within five, 68-63, as she made one free throw. The late rally by the Sharks fell short and despite an incredible 31 points in the fourth quarter, the Sharks were defeated, 78-69.
