Sharks Roll Past Rollins in SSC Dual Meet

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks swimming program opened Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday against Rollins. The CSCAA top-ranked NSU Women's team won 199-63, while the 11th ranked Sharks Men's team won 170.5 to 91.5.

RESULTS

HOW IT HAPPENED (Women's):

- Mollie Morfelt, Savanna Best, Sasha Maslova and Solana Capalbo earned the top spot in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:45.09).

- Estelle Bauer (1st/10:36.90) won the 100 Yard Freestyle with fellow Shark Victoria Ortiz (2nd/10:45.12) finishing seconds after.

- Ilaria Murzilli finished 1st in the 200 Yard Freestyle, ending with a time of 1:54.60.

- Reigning National Champion Celina Marquez dominated the 100 Yard Backstroke (1st/56.29).

- Best (1st/1:04.84), Emilia Ronningdal (2nd/1:05.08) and Claire Gass (3rd/1:07.92) commanded the 100 Yard Breaststroke.

- Maslova (1st/2:04.86) won the 200 Yard Butterfly by nearly four seconds. May Lowy and Brady Estrada followed Maslova.

- Weber finished first in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 24.59.

- The Sharks filled up four of the top five spots in the 100 Yard Freestyle with Ronningdal (1st/52.37), Weber (2nd/54.23), Estrada (4th/55.98) and Isabella Hernandez (5th/56.16).

- Marquez won the 200 Yard Backstroke by nearly five seconds, Bauer took the victory in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, Murzilli dominated the 500 Yard Freestyle, Maslova earned another victory in the 100 Yard Butterfly and Ronningdal won the 100 Yard IM.

- The Sharks took the top-four spots in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. Ilaria Murzilli, Solana Capalbp, Mollie Morfelt and Bethany Weber earned the top spot with a time of 3:35.46.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Men's):

- The Sharks took the victory in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with Gustav Henriksen, Robert Spekis, Steven Aimable and Umberto Marsic with a time of 1:34.25.

- Luca Alessandrini (1st/9:37.02) cruised to a victory in the 1000 Yard Freestyle.

- Thomas Flower finished 1st in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:39.40), Aimable won the 100 Yard Backstroke and Jarryd Baxter earned first place in the 200 Yard Butterfly

- Flower earned his second victory of the day, this time in the in 100 Yard Freestyle.

- Baxter won the 200 Yard Backstroke, his second victory of the meet.

- Luca Alessandrini (1st/4:38.90) cruised to a nine second win in the 500 Yard Freestyle.

- Aimable (1st/49.68) won the 100 Yard Butterfly with a narrow victory over Marsic (2nd/49.99).

- Flower won an event for the third time this meet, with the sophomore winning the 100 Yard IM.
