BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Men's and Women's Swim teams got back in the pool and competed against Florida Atlantic in dual meet on Friday evening. The Sharks women's team earned their first victory of the 2022-23 season, defeating the Owls 195-67, while the NSU men's team battled FAU throughout the meet but was defeated 132-129.
RESULTS
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN'S)
- The NSU 200 relay team of Celina Marquez, Savanna Best, Aleksandra Maslova, and Mollie Morfelt earned a victory, finishing over four seconds ahead of the FAU A-relay team
- Emily Trieschmann (10:20.83), Estelle Bauer (10:36.33), and Victoria Ortiz (10:42.48) placed first, second and third, respectively, in the 1000 freestyle
- Trieschmann recorded her second individual win of the meet in the 200 freestyle, finishing in 1:50.46. Emilia Ronningdal placed second (1:51.08), while Ilaria Murzilli finished in a time of 1:54.14 and placed third.
- Marquez tallied her first individual win of the dual in the 100 back, finishing in 56.27
- Best took the win in the 100 breast, recording a time of 1:04.09
- Maslova earned a victory in the 200 butterfly, placing first with a time of 2:04.02
- Bethany Weber won the 50 freestyle sprint, recording a time of 24.47
- Ronningdal (52.42) narrowly edged out her teammate Weber (52.68) in the 100 freestyle, as the Sharks placed first and second
- Marquez added a second individual victory in the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 2:02.80
- Best placed three second ahead of an Owl swimmer in the 200 breaststroke, recording her second individual win of the meet with a time of 2:21.11
- In the 500 freestyle, Trieschmann earned another victory as she posted a time of 4:58.42
- Maslova won the 100 butterfly over Marquez, posting a time of 56.07
- Ronningdal recorded a victory in the 200 IM, posting a time of 2:05.33
- Weber, Trieschmann, Solana Capalbo and Morfelt won the 200 freestyle relay, with a time of 1:37.03
HOW IT HAPPENED (Men's)
- Luca Alessandrini cruised to victory in the 1000 freestyle, recording a time of 9:36.31
- Thomas Flower added a victory in the 200 free, with a time of 1:38.81
- Alessandrini's second individual win of the dual came in the 200 butterfly, with a time of 1:52.67
- Steven Aimable (21.09) and Umberto Marsic (21.17) placed first and second in the 50 free
- Flower tallied his second win of the dual, recording a time of 44.99, in the 100 free
- Jarryd Baxter recorded a win in the 200 back with a time of 1:51.14
- Alessandrini's third solo win of the meet came in the 500 free, posting a time of 4:34.27
- Baxter posted a second win of the day in the 200 IM, finishing in 1:51.34

Nova Southeastern Men's and Women's swimming will next be in the pool and the weekend of Nov. 18, competing in the Queens Classic in Charlotte, NC.
