SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Women's Basketball team, despite outscoring Saint Leo in the fourth quarter, fell 87-78 in Sunshine State Conference action on Wednesday evening to the Lions from the Marion Bowman Center. Four Sharks scored in double-digits, including Grace Gilmore (25) to lead all scorers in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER – McKenah Peters got the offense started for the Sharks, scoring the first five points of the contest for NSU. The two teams traded buckets until the media timeout, with Kyarrah Grant putting the score at 13-11 after a jumper. Saint Leo closed the quarter on a 14-6 run and the Sharks went into the second quarter trailing 24-17.
2ND QUARTER – Peters' second three-point make of the contest brought Nova Southeastern within three-points. Gilmore gave NSU a lead midway through the second quarter with a made free throw, putting Nova Southeastern in front. The Sharks went into halftime down 46-37.
3RD QUARTER – The Sharks offense started slow in the third quarter, with Saint Leo pushing their lead into double digits. A brief 6-0 run by Nova Southeastern put the score at 56-46 in the final minute of the frame.
4TH QUARTER – The Lions and Sharks battled back-and-forth in the final quarter of play, as NSU fought to get back into the Sunshine State Conference showdown. Nova Southeastern cut the deficit to nine, 81-72, following a fastbreak bucket from Gilmore. The Sharks were unable to trim the Lions lead down further and lost the SSC match-up 87-78.

The Sharks return home to the Rick Case Arena on Sat., Feb. 12, to host the Moccasins of Florida Southern. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
