NSU Drops SSC Tilt Against FSC

Sharks Fall Against Florida Southern

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Despite getting offensive contributions from every player on the team, the Nova Southeastern Sharks Women's Basketball team lost 71-58 to the Florida Southern Moccasins on Saturday from the Rick Case Arena. Grace Gilmore scored 15 for NSU, including 11 from the free-throw line.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER – A'Lexus Bryant scored the first points of the game, finishing a lay-up off an assist from India Shepherd. Shepherd started an 8-3 run, which also featured points from Makenna Drabick and Madeline Hardy to give NSU a 12-8 advantage. Florida Southern closed out the first quarter with a 15-14 lead over the Sharks.

2ND QUARTER – FSC rallied for a 12-3 run to open the second quarter, putting the score at 27-17. Kyarrah Grant knocked down a three-pointer, following an assist from Keanna Williams, to cut the deficit to 29-22. Shepherd finished the half by knocking down a three-pointer, bringing the Sharks within six-points, trailing 31-25 at halftime.

3RD QUARTER – The Sharks got points from Bryant and Grace Gilmore to start half number two, bringing NSU back to within two-points, 31-29. FSC responded with an 11-2 run, taking a 42-31 lead over Nova Southeastern. The Sharks went into the fourth quarter trailing 46-36.

4TH QUARTER – Despite their highest scoring quarter of the game, NSU dropped the Sunshine State Conference contest 71-58 to Florida Southern.

Nova Southeastern hosts Rollins on Sat., Feb. 19, from the Rick Case Arena for Senior Day in the regular season home finale. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
