HOW IT HAPPENED

After a rare delay caused by late umpires, Kyle Morse was finally able to make his first collegiate start after 73-minutes. Tyler Epstein wasted no time sparking the offense, tripling to right-center field to put himself in scoring position for Duncan Pastore. The Sharks took a 1-0 lead, as Pastore drove in Epstein with a sacrifice fly to center field.

Morse tallied three strikeouts in the top of the second inning, bringing his total to four on the afternoon in the early innings. In the bottom of the third inning, NSU added another run as Adam Fernandez brought in Pastore with a sacrifice fly of his own.

The Sharks offense erupted in the bottom of fourth, scoring six runs to take an 8-0 advantage over Caldwell. Alejandro Macario and Gabriel Rivero hit two of the four triples for Nova Southeastern in the inning, totaling four runs for NSU.

Caldwell broke through with a run in the top of the sixth, but the Sharks responded with three more runs to take an 11-1 lead. Jacob Bove recorded the final three outs in the game, sealing the win for Nova Southeastern.

STATS OF THE NIGHT

In his first collegiate start, Morse pitched five shutout innings and struck out eight, while scattering three hits.
