Frank Homers Twice to Power #4 NSU to 14th Win

Sharks Offense Scores in Double Digits for Seventh Time

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The good times continued to roll for the fourth-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Baseball team, as the club improved to 14-0 on the season, routing Davenport Panthers 18-5 on Thursday evening from the NSU Baseball Complex. Adam Frank collected three hits, including a pair of home runs, to pace the Sharks' offense.  NSU scored in double-digits for seventh time this season in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

The Panthers started the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the first. NSU wasted no time, responding with a solo home run by Frank to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom half of the inning. Nova Southeastern broke the game open in the bottom of the second, plating six runs in the frame, taking a 7-1 lead.  

Daniel Irisarri led-off the inning with a walk, and promptly was moved into scoring position with a double from Michael Avendano. Alex Hernandez added a birthday blast, for his fourth of the season, to give the Sharks a 4-1 lead. NSU scored three more runs in the inning, extending its lead to 7-1.  

Frank tallied his second home run of the game in the bottom of the third inning, driving in Tyler Epstein and Hernandez, to push the Sharks advantage to 11-1. Davenport added their second run in the top of the fourth inning, scoring on an RBI single. Nova Southeastern added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth, plating 16 runs in the first four innings of the series opener. Back-to-back hits from Alejandro Macario and Stephen Schissler scored a total of three runs for NSU, putting the score at 16-2 after four innings.  

Nova Southeastern added a run in both the fifth and eighth innings, pushing the lead to 18-3 before closing out an 18-5 victory over Davenport.  

STATS OF THE NIGHT 

  • Alex Hernandez extended his hitting streak to eight games with the home run.  

  • Of the 14 hits for the Sharks offense, seven went for extra base hits, including four doubles and three home runs. Three of the extra base hits were from the bat of Adam Frank, who hit two home runs and added a double.

No. 4 Nova Southeastern continues its series against Davenport with game two from the NSU Baseball Complex on Friday, March 4. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
