MIAMI SHORES, FL. - The Sharks responded from Friday night's defeat with back-to-back wins over the Barry Buccaneers on Saturday evening to take the Sunshine State Conference series on the road. NSU took game one in extra innings, outlasting the Buccaneers in 13 innings with an 8-6 win, before cruising to a 7-1 victory in the rubber match.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE)
BOTTOM 3RD | Barry got on the board first, breaking a scoreless contest in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI single.
TOP 5TH | The Sharks tied the game in the top of the fifth, manufacturing a run following a leadoff single from Kolbe Aven. Tyler Epstein moved him into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt and Aven scored on an RBI single from Bryce Hazzard.
TOP 6TH | NSU broke the game open in the top of the sixth inning, plating four runs to take their first lead of the weekend. Epstein beat out an infield single, and Aven scored on a throwing error by Barry. Frank followed with an RBI double, driving in Epstein and Hazzard, putting NSU ahead 4-1. Duncan Pastore capped off the frame with an RBI single, bringing in Frank.
BOTTOM 7TH | The Sharks advantage was short-lived, as Barry responded with five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to reclaim the lead.
TOP 8TH | A bases loaded wild pitch by the Buccaneers allowed Epstein to score, tying the contest at 6-6.
BOTTOM 8TH | Michael Dillon entered the game in the inning, and threw four shutout frames out of the bullpen as the game went into the 13th inning.
TOP 13TH | Adan Fernandez broke the tie with an RBI single, scoring Pastore, giving NSU a 7-6 lead. Adam Smith later drove in Daniel Irisarri, extending the Sharks advantage to 8-6.
BOTTOM 13TH | Matt Ornelas earned his first save of the 2022 season, striking out one, as Nova Southeastern won game two of the series, 8-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME TWO)
TOP 3RD | Pastore broke a scoreless tie with a sacrifice fly, driving in Epstein, giving the Sharks an early 1-0 lead.
TOP 4TH | After three shutout innings from Cooper Omans, NSU extended its lead with an RBI single from Epstein. Hazzard followed with another RBI single, plating Smith, pushing the Nova Southeastern lead to 3-0.
BOTTOM 7TH | Barry scored their lone run of the contest on a balk, putting the score at 3-1.
TOP 8TH | The Sharks were unfazed by the Buccaneers run, scoring four runs in the eighth inning to take a 7-1 lead. Fernandez blasted a solo home run and NSU capitalized on Barry miscues to pad their advantage.
BOTTOM 9TH | Stephen Schissler pitched the final two innings, striking out two, and sealing the Sharks series win over Barry.
