#24 Sharks pick up Pair of Victories

Sharks improve to 4-0 after pair of wins

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHARLOTTE, NC – The 24th ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks completed their rounds at the Queens Invitational, going a perfect 4-0 in the tournament after defeating Mount Olive and North Greenville on Saturday at the Levine Center. The Sharks bested Mount Olive in four sets (25-18, 14-25, 25-19, 25-23) and also defeated North Greenville in four-sets (23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-22).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nova Southeastern got out to an early 7-4 lead following two consecutive kills from Olivia Aniol and Elizabeth Price.
  • Back-to-back errors from Mount Olive gave NSU a 13-8 advantage, forcing UMO to call a timeout.
  • Taylor Stockman recorded two kills, pushing the Sharks lead to 24-17, before Price finished the set victory for NSU.
  • The second set began as a back-and-forth affair, but Price added a service ace to put NSU in front 6-4.
  • Mount Olive rallied for four consecutive points, taking an 8-6 lead, as Nova Southeastern called a timeout.
  • UMO pulled away in the second set, as the Sharks dropped their first set of the 2022 campaign, 25-14.
  • Price tallied two more points to start the third set, giving NSU a quick 3-2 lead.
  • Stockman extended the Sharks lead to 14-8 with another kill, as Nova Southeastern pulled further in front.
  • A service error by Mount Olive put NSU on the edge of bouncing back with a victory in the third set. Stockman sealed the deal, adding another kill to her total, as the Sharks took the third set, 25-19.
  • Two straight errors from UMO put the Sharks in front 10-5 as Mount Olive called a timeout early in the fourth set.
  • Julia Bernardes recorded two straight kills for NSU, extending the advantage to 14-6, and Mount Olive burnt their second timeout.
  • UMO rallied to tie the set at 19-19, taking advantage of three Shark errors.
  • Price closed out the Sharks third consecutive victory to open the season, as Nova Southeastern took the fourth set 25-23.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Nova Southeastern Sharks defeated North Greenville in four-sets (23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-22) to improve to 4-0 on the 2022 season on Saturday afternoon. NSU dropped a competitive first set 23-25, but responded by taking the remaining sets to earn the victory. Elizabeth Price led the way for the Sharks, totaling 20 kills with a .415 hitting percentage. Bruna Avila guided the Sharks offense, distributing the ball for 51 assists during the match. On the defensive end, Preslee Brooksbank recorded 18 digs, while the Sharks combined for 10 blocks.
