NSU falls on road against Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. - No. 25 Nova Southeastern was defeated in Sunshine State Conference action by Florida Southern in four-sets on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Sharks fell behind Florida Southern, trailing 3-7 before calling timeout.  

  • Following the timeout, Nova Southeastern battled back to tie the set at 14-14 after Brittany Landrum and Bruna Avila assisted each other on a block.  

  • Avila and Landrum combined for another block, giving the Sharks a 16-14 advantage, as Florida Southern called a timeout.  

  • Nova Southeastern and Florida Southern battled back and forth for the remainder of the set, but the Moccasins claimed the first set win (23-25).  

  • The Sharks opened the second set by winning 3-of-4 points, getting out to an early 3-1 lead.  

  • Nova Southeastern pushed its lead to three points, leading 16-13, after kills from Taylor Stockman and Landrum. 

  • Following a Florida Southern timeout, NSU extended its advantage to 18-14 after a kill from Avila.  

  • FSC's second timeout of the set came after a Stockman kill, as NSU took a 21-17 lead. 

  • Landrum's sixth block of the match sealed the set win for Nova Southeastern, as the Sharks tied the match at 1-1 by winning the set 25-22.  

  • Florida Southern opened the third set on an 8-1 run, but the Sharks battled back to put the score at 15-16.  

  • The Sharks were unable to tie the set, dropping the third set 21-25. 

  • FSC took an 8-4 lead early in the fourth set, forcing NSU to call a timeout. 

  • NSU dropped the final set and lost the match in four sets against Florida Southern. 

UPCOMING 

Nova Southeastern returns to the court on Friday, Sept. 30, hosting Florida Tech from the Rick Case Arena. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
