GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern men's and women's swim programs began their 2022-23 seasons on Friday, as the Sharks women's team competed against both the Florida Gators and Arkansas Razorbacks, while the men's side raced against Florida.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Women's)

Emily Trieschmann finished with a time of 10:20.54 in the 1000-yard freestyle and was the top finisher for the Sharks.

Emilia Ronningdal placed fifth in the 200-freestyle, with a time of 1:52.81.

Celina Marquez finished in fourth place for NSU in the 100-backstroke with a time of 56.83 and earned two points for NSU.

Savanna Best scored a point in the 100-breaststroke, finishing fifth with a time of 1:04.25.

Estelle Bauer earned a second-place finish for the Sharks in the 500-freestyle, just missing on the victory by eight-tenths of a second and recorded a time of 4:51.93.

Sasha Maslova placed fifth for Nova Southeastern in the 100-butterfly, recording a time of 56.72.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Men's)

Gustav Henriksen, Robert Spekis, Umberto Marsic and Anton Mueller earned two points for NSU in the 200 yard medley relay, recording a time of 1:33.78.

Luca Alessandrini placed fifth in 1000-yard freestyle for NSU, earning two points, with a time of 9:43.70.

Aidan Pflieger and Caleb Fell also placed within the top-10 for Nova Southeastern, recording times of 9:57.12 and 10:08.29, respectively.

Thomas Flower and Rhett Moore each scored points for the Sharks in the 200-free, placing fourth and fifth with times of 1:41.84 and 1:46.55.

Henriksen picked up two points for the Sharks in the 100-backstroke with a time of 51.13, while Luka Samsonov added a point and finished in 55.19.

Spekis and Vendetti added three more points to the Sharks' ledger, finishing the 100-breaststroke with times of 59.40 and 1:05.04.

Matthew Gush (2:08.81) and Jose Diaz (2:09.65) placed within the top-6 in the 200-butterfly.

Umberto Marsic finished fourth in the 50-freestyle, recording a time of 20.68.
UPCOMING
The Sharks will be back in the pool on Friday, Oct. 7, and host the Shark Invitational. Day one of the meet begins at 4:30 p.m. at the NSU Aquatic Center.
