NSU Stuns Tampa in Second Half

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - After allowing a go-ahead goal in the beginning of the match, the Sharks overcame the Spartans and the elements, defeating Tampa 2-1 in Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday evening from the NSU Soccer Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Spartans began the game with a quick goal to take a 1-0 lead over the Sharks in the early minutes of the contest.  

  • Inside the 20 minute mark, the SSC match-up was delayed due to weather for nearly an hour.  

  • Following the break, Nova's defense stymied the Tampa offense and held the score at 1-0 as the clubs went into halftime.  

  • Luana Grabias tied the match at 1-1 after breaking away down the left-side of the field and beating the Spartans keeper to net the equalizer.  

  • In the 86th minute, Dani Correa put the game-winning goal past the Spartans keeper to give NSU a 2-1 lead late in the match.  

  • Stefane Rosa turned away a last gasp effort by the Spartans, finishing off the Sharks fifth win of the season.  

UPCOMING 

The Sharks travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to take on Embry-Riddle on Sat., October 1. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
