#22 Sharks Offense Erupts to Beat Washburn

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Led by a third inning which featured 14 Shark hitters coming to hit and eight runs scoring, the No. 22 Nova Southeastern Baseball team defeated the Washburn Ichabods 12-3 on Friday evening from the NSU Baseball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Bottom of the First Inning – The Sharks wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, taking an early 3-0 lead over Washburn. Tyler Epstein and Kristian Noriega each recorded a base hit, before Daniel Irisarri worked a walk to load the bases. The opening run of the contest scored on a fielder's choice, before two more runs scored on an Ichabod's error.

Top of the Second Inning – Carlos Rey, tonight's starter for NSU, struck out three hitters in the frame.

Bottom of the Third – The Sharks opened the third inning with three consecutive batters reaching base, including back-to-back RBI base hits from Ihosvany Castañeda AND Michael Uz to take a 5-0 lead. Kolbe Aven added an RBI double, driving in Uz from first base, and later scored on another RBI double from Bryce Hazzard. Duncan Pastore and Daniel Irisarri both tallied RBI knocks and the inning closed with Nova Southeastern leading 11-0.

Top of the Fourth – Washburn responded with two runs in the frame, putting the score at 11-2.

Bottom of the Seventh – Derek Bermudez hit his first career home run and extended the Nova Southeastern lead to 12-2.
