#2 NSU Holds Off #6 Lynn in SSC Battle

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - In a tightly contested battle between two top-ranked tennis programs, the No. 2 Nova Southeastern Sharks emerged victorious and defeated Sunshine State Conference rival, No. 6 Lynn, on Wednesday afternoon from the NSU Tennis Complex. Natalie Espinal and Fatima Bizhukova, the top-ranked duo in the nation, led the second-ranked Sharks to the win, earning a doubles victory and a pair of singles wins.

HOW IT HAPPENED – Doubles 

Espinal and Bizhukova defeated Zofia Podbiol and Greta Schieroni [6-2], earning NSU's first win in doubles competition. 

Diane Follin-Arbelet and Eva Goncharov were victorious in their doubles contest, winning against Giorgia Pigato and Salma Djoubri [6-2] 

Julie Razafindranaly and Karolina Snita completed a sweep of the doubles' competition for the Sharks, defeating Kristen Younes and Dolores Molina [6-1] 

HOW IT HAPPENED – Singles 

Razafindranaly was defeated in her singles contest by Djoubri [0-6, 3-6] 

Espinal earned a huge win for No. 2 NSU in her singles contest, beating Younes [6-3, 6-4] 

Sita fell in her match, dropping the contest [2-6, 4-6] 

Bizhukova earned her second victory of the day, winning against Podbiol [6-0, 5-7, 7-5] 

Follin-Arbelet clinched the Sunshine State Conference win for NSU, beating Pigato [6-2, 7-5] 

Goncharov lost her match in three sets [7-5, 2-6, 1-6] 

UPCOMING 

No. 2 Nova Southeastern faces another tough test in their next match, traveling to Saint Augustine and taking on No. 5 Flagler on Saturday, February 18. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
