NSU Drops Series Opener Against Wingate

WINGATE, N.C. –Nova Southeastern Baseball began a four-game series against the Wingate Bulldogs on Thursday afternoon. The Sharks dropped the series opener 15-10 from Ron Christopher Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Top of the First – The Sharks offense wasted no time getting on the board, as Daniel Irisarri and Adam Smith hit back-to-back home runs, putting Nova Southeastern in front 3-0.
Top of the Third – Ihosvany Castañeda launched the third NSU home run of the contest, extending the Sharks lead to 6-0 in the early innings.
Bottom of the Third – The Bulldogs responded with a pair of runs, putting the score at 6-2.
Bottom of the Fifth – Wingate added three more runs in the inning, cutting the Sharks lead to just one, as NSU led 6-5.
Top of the Sixth – Nova Southeastern extended its lead to 7-5 following an RBI single from Derek Bermudez.
Bottom of the Sixth – WC tied the game at 7-7 with a two-run home run.
Bottom of the Seventh – The Bulldogs plated six runs in the seventh inning, extending their lead to 13-7.
Top of the Ninth – Nova Southeastern opened the ninth inning with four consecutive hits and scoring three runs in total, but the Sharks rally fell short, as NSU dropped the contest, 15-10.
