NSU Falls in Doubleheader Against Wingate

WINGATE, N.C. – Nova Southeastern Baseball completed its four-game series with Wingate on Saturday evening. The Sharks dropped both contests in the double, losing game one (4-3) before dropping the seven-inning series finale (9-3).

HOW IT HAPPENED – Game One
Top of the First – The Sharks got on the board in the first inning, plating two runs to take an early 2-0 lead. Daniel Irisarri drove in Duncan Pastore and Ihosvany Castañeda drove in Irisarri to cap off the inning.
Bottom of the First – The Bulldogs tied the game with a two-run home run.
Bottom of the Fifth – Wingate added two more runs in the fifth, taking a 4-2 lead over NSU.
Top of the Sixth – The Sharks attempted to comeback in the sixth inning, as Kristian Noriega drove in Bryce Hazzard with an RBI single. NSU had runners reach second and third, but the rally ended before NSU could tie the contest.
Top of the Ninth – Nova Southeastern was unable to tie the game, dropping the third game of the four-game series, 4-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED – Game Two
Bottom of the First – Wingate scored the first run in the series finale, taking a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly.
Top of the Third – Castañeda gave the Sharks a 2-1 advantage over the Bulldogs with a two-run home run to right-center.
Bottom of the Third – Nova Southeastern's lead was short-lived, as Wingate responded with seven runs – including a pair of home runs – putting the score at 8-2.
Top of the Seventh – With two outs in the final inning, Jarrett Hall doubled to center-field, driving in Ryan Cainzos, putting the score at 9-2.
