ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Women's Basketball team its lost sixth game of the season on Wednesday evening, falling 63-80 at Eckerd. The Sharks were led by 19 points from Madison Frederick and 19 points from Hailey Conley in the Sunshine State Conference loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter – The Sharks got off to a slow start, falling down 4-0 before a Madison Frederick three-pointer opened the scoring for NSU. As the Tritons took a five-point lead, a layup from A'lexus Bryant lowered the deficit to 5-8 . With the quarter winding down, Sarei McGill took over, scoring 6 consecutive points that helped NSU go into the second quarter down 11-17.
Second Quarter – Frederick and Hailey Conley each drew fouls and hit free throws on the first two possessions of the quarter. The Sharks then had a three-point barrage, with Mackenzie Steele, Frederick and Zeyno Seren all hitting from beyond the arc. A layup from Kyannah Grant helped NSU get within four points of Eckerd with just over five minutes remaining in the half. After that, the Sharks went cold, going on a four-minute scoring drought before a Frederick layup made the score 29-36. Nova Southeastern made just one field goal in the last five minutes and would go into halftime trailing 29-40.
Third Quarter – Conley started off the quarter with a long mid-range jumper. A layup from Steele, a stepback mid-range from Frederick and a layup from India Shepherd helped the Sharks go on a 6-0 run and lower its deficit to 37-44. Just after Eckerd hit back-to-back three-pointers, Frederick hit another tough shot to keep it an 11-point game. A 16-1 Eckerd run and another five-minute scoring drought for NSU put the Sharks into the fourth quarter down 40-66.
Fourth Quarter – McGill scored on back-to-back possessions to open the final quarter. Frederick and Steele both hit layups to lower the deficit to 21. With just over five and a half minutes remaining, the Sharks scored eight consecutive points with Frederick and Conley each contributing four points. Conley hit a pair of threes as the game winded down, but in the end, the Sharks would fall to the Tritons 63-80.
STATS OF THE NIGHT
- Frederick (19), Conley (19) and McGill (10) combined for 76.2% of the Sharks' points (48/63).
- Frederick recorded a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double in the loss. The double-double is her 8th of the season.
- Conley has now scored 19+ points in seven games this season.
