FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Sharks opened the 2023 season with an explosive 6-0 victory over Thomas More on Friday evening from the NSU Soccer Stadium.
Maja Henriksson and
Luana Grabias scored two goals each, while
Stefane Rosa shut out the Saints with three saves in the game.

• The Sharks opened the match quickly with
Luana Grabias putting one into the back of the net in the 7th minute, giving the Sharks an early 1-0 lead.
• In the 15th minute, a beautiful pass from
Jordyn Pitter perfectly set up Tabea Shütt to fire one into the goal, increasing the Sharks' lead to 2-0.

Stefane Rosa knocked away a potential goal for the Saints, keeping the Sharks' 2-0 lead.
• Right before halftime,
Emery Biggs and Tabea Shütt fired away shots-on-goal, but were unable to get them past the Saints' goalkeeper.
• Coming out of the break in the 52nd minute,
Maja Henriksson lasered one into the back of the net, extending the Sharks' lead to 3-0.
• Minutes later in the 57th minute,
Jordyn Pitter got one by the Saints' goalkeeper, making it 4-0 Sharks.
• In the 63rd minute,
Maja Henriksson scored off of an amazing corner kick, giving Henriksson her second goal of the game, and pushing the Sharks ahead 5-0.
• In the 66th minute,
Luana Grabias scored her second goal of the game, making it 6-0 Sharks.

Stefane Rosa recorded three saves, completely shutting down Thomas More, as she blanked the Saints for her first shutout of the season.
Coach Amy Vaughan – Great to get back playing and kick off the 2023 season. Positive way to start the opening game, lots to work on but looking forward to seeing what this group can do.
Nova Southeastern returns to action on Sunday as they host Saint Anselm College at the NSU Soccer Stadium at 7:00 PM.
