Sharks Shine Bright on Day Three of SSC Championships

OCALA, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Men's and Women's Swimming teams continued competition at the 2024 Sunshine State Conference Championships on Friday night in Ocala, Florida. The Sharks continued to dominate, adding five gold medals, three silver medals, and four bronze medals. Through three days, the Women's team continues to have a strong hold on first place, while the Men's team remains in second place behind Tampa.

How it Happened
(Women's)
  • Starting off the day in the 100 Butterfly, Rafaela Raurich captured first place, and set a new SSC Meet and NSU record with her time of 53.15.
  • In the 400 Individual Medley, the Sharks claimed the top three spots, with May Lowy claiming the gold medal with a time of 4:18.08. Behind Lowy in second place was Estelle Bauer with a time of 4:20.47. In third place, with a time of 4:21.05, was Neta Shiff.
  • The Sharks once again claimed the top three spots, this time in the 200 Freestyle. Emily Trieschmann took first place with a time of 1:47.27. In second place was Emilia Ronningdal with a time of 1:48.17. Then rounding out the top three was Raurich with a time of 1:48.55.
  • In the 400 Medley Relay, the group of Maria Goncalves, Ronningdal, Raurich, and Trieschmann secured the gold medal with a time of 3:39.98.

What's Next
The Sharks return to pool in Ocala, FL on February 17th for day four of the Sunshine State Conference Championships. Events scheduled for day four include 500 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, and the 200 Freestyle Relay. Prelims begin at 10:00AM, followed by the finals at 6:00PM.
