St. Petersburg, Fla. - The number 15 ranked Nova Southeastern Softball team kicked off SSC play with a doubleheader sweep over the Eckerd Tritons on Friday evening. NSU took down the Tritons 5-1 in game one, then followed that up with an 11-3 victory in game two.

TOP 3rd – Alyssa Drogemuller put the first Shark run on the board, singling to left field.  
BOT 4th – The Tritons answered with a homer to tie the match at one a piece.  
TOP 6th – NSU would break the stalemate thanks to a single by Brianna Matthews, bringing Alisha Lanyon across home plate.  
TOP 7th – The Sharks would score three more runs off of two throwing errors and a wild pitch, ultimately securing the 5–1 SSC victory over the Tritons.

TOP 1st – Maliyah Lawson scored the first Shark run after a wild pitch from the Tritons. Then with two runners on base, Madison Fine homered to left field to extend NSU's lead to 4-0.  
TOP 3rd – A sacrifice fly from Alisha Lanyon brought another Shark run across home plate. 
BOT 4th – Eckerd cut their deficit to three runs after putting two runs on the board. 
TOP 5th – Lanyon earned another RBI, extending the Shark lead to 6-2. Shortly after, Kerstyn Shaw batted in the Sharks seventh run of the game. Then a wild pitch from the Tritons allowed another Shark run to score. 
TOP 6th – A sacrifice fly from Lokeinsky extended NSU's lead to 9-2. 
TOP 7th – NSU tacked on two more runs to take a commanding 11-2 lead. 
BOT 7th - Eckerd put another run on the board but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. NSU would go on to secure the 11-3 victory over Eckerd. 
 
           
Madison Fine hit her first home run of the season. 

NSU will be back in action tomorrow at 10 a.m. to finish the series against the Tritons.
