VALDOSTA, GA. - The #25 ranked Nova Southeastern women's basketball team keeps on dancing, taking down number five-seeded Lee University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Double-digit efforts from Nicole Scales (17), Aubrey Stupp (15), and Kailyn Terrell (11) led the way for the Sharks.

First Half – Back-to-back three-pointers from Terrell and Scales gave the Sharks the early 6-0 lead. The Lady Flames answered with five straight points to cut their deficit to one point with 6:51 left to play. Both teams continued to trade buckets before an India Shepherd steal led to a layup by Jess Moors on the other end, pushing NSU ahead 17-12. The Sharks would head into the second quarter with a 19-16 lead. NSU picked up the defensive intensity in the second quarter, going on a 12-0 run capped off by an Aubrey Stupp layup, putting the Sharks up 31-16. NSU kept their foot on the gas pedal, holding onto a 40-21 lead going into the break.
Second Half – Scales kicked off the action with a layup off a steal from Stupp, giving the Sharks a 21-point lead, their biggest lead of the game. Lee clawed their way back and cut the Sharks lead to 10 points as they headed into the final frame. Nova Southeastern would win the game at the free-throw line, knocking down 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to secure the 71-61 victory over Lee in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 25 Nova Southeastern Sharks Women's Basketball team will return to action tomorrow in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against number one seeded and host Valdosta State University.
