#25 Sharks Split Doubleheader Against #4 Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. - The #25 ranked Nova Southeastern Softball team split a doubleheader matchup against #4 ranked Tampa on Saturday afternoon from the Naimoli Family Field. The Spartans took game one 8-1 but the Sharks bounced back with a 4-0 victory to close out the series. Tori Copeland led the Sharks in game two with a two-RBI outing.

How it Happened

BOT 3rd – The Spartans struck first, putting three runs on the board to take an early 3-0 lead. 

TOP 4th – Gianna Russo singled to right center, bringing Madison Fine across home plate for the Sharks first run of the game. 

BOT 4th – Tampa answered with two more runs to push them ahead 5-1. 

BOT 6th – The Spartans run barrage continued as they tacked on three more runs, ultimately securing the 8-1 game-one victory over NSU.

How it Happened

TOP 3rd – Tori Copeland got the action started with a single down the left line, batting in Alexis Smith for the first run of the game.  

TOP 6th – With one runner on base, Brianna Matthews hit an RBI triple to left center, giving NSU a two-run lead. Shortly after, Drogemuller singled up the middle, bringing another run across home plate, and pushing the Sharks ahead 3-0.  

TOP 7th – Copeland would earn another RBI with a sacrifice bunt, securing the 4-0 game two victory over the Spartans.  

Shark Standouts          

Tori Copeland earned a season-high two RBIs. 

What's Next

The Sharks will return to the AD Griffin Sports Complex on Friday, April 5th where they will take on Saint Leo in game one of a three-game SSC series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
